This deliciously light and fluffy snack comes to you from Gujarat. This finger-licking traditional snack can be rustled up in an instant to satisfy those hunger pangs.
Serve with Pudina (mint) chutney or tamarind chutney. MTR was started by the Maiya family in 1924 in Bangalore, India. MTR today is under the ownership of Norwegian Company M/s Orkla, who took over in 2007. The varied range of products include ready-to-eat curries and rice, ready-to-eat cook gravies, frozen food, ice-cream, instant mixes, etc. They are known for their age old recipes and highest quality and hygiene.
How to cook
Mix 1 measure Of MTR Khaman Dhokla mix with 4 tbsp cooking oil and ½ measure water to form a smooth batter.
Grease 2 Baking trays/plates with little oil and pour equal quantities of batter in to each tray/plate (So as to obtain required thickness and proper puffing of the dhoklas).
Steam the batter on high flame for 15 minutes. Sprinkle sugar syrup on the steamed batter.
For sugar syrup:
Take 4 tbsp water and 1 tbsp sugar, mix well and boil for 1 minute.
For seasoning: Heat 1 tbsp edible oil, add ¼ tsp mustard and a pinch of Asafoetida (Hing), cool the Dhokla slightly, evenly spread the seasoning on top and garnish with grated coconut and finely cut coriander leaves. Cut into cubes and serve.
