In this we are going to teach you how to make Aloo tamatar Sabzi


A North Indian main course dish. Needs approx. 20 minutes to prepare and 10 minutes to cook (total time taken: 30 minutes). Can serve 2-3 person.

Ingredients: Measured in 250 ml cup

Potatoes: 1 Piece if large or 2 Pieces if medium in size.

Tomatoes: 4-5 Nos. (chopped)

Cumin / Jeera seeds: 1 teaspoon

Lal Mirch Powder / Red chilli powder: ¼ teaspoon

Kali Mirch Powder / Black pepper powder: ¼ teaspoom

Water: 1 cup

Ghee / oil: 1 tablespoon

Coriander leaves: a few of them chopped

Rock salt / Sendha Namak  (as required)


Boil the potatoes peel and dice them (cook till just cooked and not much). Heat oil in a pan and fry the cumin seeds a bit. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté well. Add red chilli powder and pepper powder. Add the chopped potatoes and stir well. Add 1 cup water and rock salt. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes on low flame till the contents thicken. If you need to thicken the gravy, then mash a few pieces of potato with a spoon. Decorate with coriander leaves and serve aloo tamtar sabzi with roti or poori.
